Overtime they both will gain a “natural patina”, with minor scratches. And you can remove them with sandpaper or comet, but only if the marble is honed. If the marble is polished, abrasives like comet will remove the polish. That’s why we would only recommend honed marble or limestone in a kitchen. Otherwise, you’ll probably have a headache worrying about the polish etching from acids (wine, coffee). So mine as well, live carefree and choose honed! Most horror stories you hear are from people that have had polished marble, not honed…
